If a drivers' licensing authority suspended the person with dementia's licence, they should have stopped driving immediately. Likewise, if a healthcare professional told the person with dementia that they were no longer safe to drive, they should have stopped immediately. If they continue driving, they put themself and others at risk. In addition, if they get into an accident, there is a chance that their insurance will not cover any injuries or damage. To get around without driving, work with the person with dementia and their doctor to come up with an alternative transportation plan (click here).
